Labbe Bedding Inc. IDENTITY SYSTEM

The Challenge:

To rebrand a well-established business to take it’s marketing to a new audience. The former owners had built a successful business on word-of-mouth and repeat business, but with new owners came a new target audience for marketing. To appeal to the existing customers and new customers–namely young urban professionals–became the focus. Because Labbe Bedding already had over 40 years experience in custom-made spring and foam mattresses, boxsprings, RV cushions, daycare mats, etc. as well as selling ready-made items, the branding should reflect the professionalism and high quality that defines Labbe as it has operates today, and of course how it will continue to operate. The look and feel of the logo and marketing materials should echo the “tried-and-true” service and products, and be very professional and calm feeling. We want the potential customers to feel well cared for, and that in addition to having a comfortable new product, they’ll have a comfortable experience dealing with Labbe Bedding Inc.

The Solution:

Specifically, the logo for Labbe Bedding Inc. needed to also reflect that they build mattresses and related products, not furniture or bed linens. The owners of Labbe Bedding asked to see at least one design concept that conveyed a “modern zen” feel.

How do you say “bed” without being obvious and boring? Very simple shapes create a bed and pillow, paired with a very modern typeface make this logo gentle and calm. The letters are spaced further apart, which keeps it light, but there is a slight emphasis on “Labbe&rdquo to make the name stand out. The colour choices of light olive and charcoal support the calmness this logo is conveying and create a nice palette for the owners to adapt to other applications.

The business cards provide a partial list of what products they can produce, so there is no uncertainty, and also to promote the other products. For now, as the new owners compile the content for their web site, we’ve designed a site that serves as a contact page so that Labbe Bedding has a presence on the web.
